Very Short, Very Topical Update.

I am a sucker for monster raising games. This includes Pokemon.

They are coming out with a new iteration of the series on the DS. Which, all in all, doesn't look TOO too bad; a slew of extra features, evolutions of old AND VERY NEGLECTED creatures, and one heckuva battle mechanics overhaul? Sure, I might hit it.

The unveiling of the ultimate pimpbird, however, has ensured that I will get this game when it comes out.

2) Are they actualy making enough Ghost Pokemon that they can be considered an actual type, now, or are they still stuck on "Ghastly-Haunter-Gengar and maybe some secondary types, yeah."?

1) ... I just learned that it apparently evolves from Murkrow. Now, why couldn't some of the OTHER new evolutions look cool like that, instead of doing things like turning Tangela into the ultimate tentacle rape monster or Lickitung into a ball of meat?


2) Well, they've given some of the older ghost-types new evolutions- Misdreavus and Dusclops- so I guess they're more viable options now. That one bizarre pure-ice type whose name escapes me also becomes part ghost, which sort of doesn't make sense, but whatever.
They're also pumping out a number of new ghost-types this time around, though some of them have some really weird secondary types. Like, Ghost/Electric for no discernable reason. Heck, quite a bit of Diamond-Pearl seems like one giant experimentation with twisted type combos (hey, let's make that penguin starter become a Water/Steel Prinnybot!)
... so, yeah, I'd say that Ghost Pokemon are an actual type now.

'Ball of meat' is sort of the only way to describe it, because 'WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW' is hard to use as an adjective.

And as a bonus, the hentacle rape monster.

I'm just greatly amused that the natural evolution of Nosepass, that darned Easter Island monster, has a 'Stache stat to rival that of Mario.

Also, touche. I would punctuate this statement with an official (I kid you not) picture of an amorous Tangela molesting a crying Jigglypuff, but I'm afraid that I lost it long ago.
That was when they introduced the raises-more-questions-than-it-answers breeding system in Gold/Silver, see.
